Underwriting Services

An assistant provides general administrative assistance and full back-end support to complete underwriting requirements. Responsible in analyzing data and completing risk assessment based on the carrier’s internal underwriting guide.

  • NEW BUSINESS SUBMISSIONS
  • When a new submission is received by Gratus, we provide the following services:

    • Logging in of the insured's information from the received applications.
    • Acknowledgement of the received applications and verification of other information.
    • Help in quote generation.
    • Provide any needed internet information or property review that will be helpful to the underwriter.
    • Reviewing the quote to be released to the insured's agent.
    • Reviewing and binding of the account once everything is done and sending of the COI (Confirmation of Insurance) to the agent.
    • To end the process, the policy will be issued to the agent for the insured.
    • If necessary, an inspection order is requested.

  • RENEWAL SUBMISSION
  • When policies are renewed we provide the following services:

    • A mandatory 90 days solicitation is being done for each renewing business. A solicitation is when our underwriters or associates ask for the updated applications from the agents to be used for the renewal of the account.
    • Review of renewal apps and subjectivities given by the agent.
    • Monitoring of the account and communicating with the agents for the needed information for the renewal of the account.
    • Reviewing the quote to be released to the insured's agent.
    • Binding of the account once everything is done and sending of the COI (Confirmation of Insurance) to the agent.
    • To end the process, the policy will be issued to the agent for the insured.
    • If necessary, an inspection order is requested.

  • ACCOUNT SERVICES
    • Request to bind. When we receive a bind order from the insured, we provide the following services:
    • Confirmation of insurance. This is released by us to the agent which contains the policy number, effective date, forms and endorsements and invoice of the policy term.
    • Follow up on subjectivities. This is done when we need to collect important requirements (applications, accords and other documents) prior to binding.
    • Surplus lines filings. This is when we pay for the taxes of the non-admitted accounts that we do business with.
    • Policy issuance. This is done after we generate the policy and will be released to the agent for the insured.
    • Endorsement processing.
    • Suspense and monitoring.
